The Network Coordination Committee is the decision making body for issues related to project management and coordination.
The NCC is formed by:
- SoftComp Coordinator: Prof. D. Richter, FZJ, Germany
- 3 Network Area chairpersons:
Dr. D. Vlassopoulos, FORTH, Greece
Prof. G. Gompper, FZJ, Germany
Prof. J. Colmenero, Inst. Curie, France
- 3 Research Platforms Leaders:
Prof. W. Paul, Univ. Mainz, Germany
Prof. L. Liz-Marzan, Univ. Vigo, Spain
Prof. P.Schurtenberger, Univ. Fribourg, Switzerland
- 2 Industrial observers
Dr. M.Noro, Unilever, UK
Dr. L.Odoni, Rhodia, France
- Educational officers
P. Olmsted, Univ. Leeds, UK
- Dissemination Officer
Prof. J. Dhont, FZJ, Germany
- Gender Equality Officer
Dr. P. Bassereau
The two industrial observers have no voting rights.
In this way, the industrial representation at the steering level of the NCC is ensured, without unfairly favouring one industrial partner over the others. This choice of directors reflects a cross section of the various basic soft matter disciplines.
The Network Coordination Committee assumes overall responsibility towards the Network Governing Board (NGB) for liaison between the partners and for analysing and approving the results generated under Network Area Boards, the Task Forces and the research platforms.
The NCC monitors the progress of the work program and also oversees the continuous review of the process of integration of Soft Matter materials science, including the identification of new partners and the acquisition of newexpertise. This most important NCC function is ensured through the born membership of all network area chairpersons.
The NCC will coordinate the training education and spreading of excellence activities – the corresponding responsible officers are part of the NCC. Finally, through the gender equality officer the NCC will implement measures to promote gender equality in the NoE, to encourage women participation in research, advised by a task force on Gender Equality.
During the SoftComp Phase 2 - the NCC will meet at least once every six months.
